Hispanic Consumers in the U.S.: The Facts

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Latinos accounted for 51.1% of the country’s growth. In other words, the hispanic consumer footprint is growing and the companies that capitalize on this marketing trend will benefit, both now and in the future. And we’re not just talking about a stereotypical first generation immigrant with limited English fluency. Several generations down the family tree, hispanic marketing agencies expect to see trends in ‘Spanglish’ speaking households as well as a continuation in Latino food and religious traditions.

The Hispanic Digital Marketing Agency of Tomorrow

Our Methodology: There’s a Method to the Madness

Using trusted data sources like the U.S. Census Bureau and Pew Research Center, the AdvisifyMedia team is able to combine our insider industry knowledge of Latinx consumer behavior with broader, nationwide population trends to craft one-of-a-kind digital marketing campaigns. For example, did you know that statistically, Hispanic consumers spend more time than other segments on sites such as Craigslist, eBay,, Groupon and RetailMeNot? This suggests that Hispanic consumers prefer to seek out exclusive offers via bargain sites. Any organization could utilize this vital piece of data to seek out partnerships with these bargain sites and craft marketing campaigns that add to the bottom line.

Bilingual Spanish Content Marketing Services

Blogging and copywriting is an important pillar of the content marketing strategy for many organizations. Our founder was contracted by a nationwide insurance provider to provide bilingual blogging and content marketing services that would engage the Latino population living in the States. Need email copy in Caribbean Spanish for a Florida audience? Blog content for a primarily Mexican audience living in California? We've done it all. Note, this wasn’t a translation of English blogs to Spanish, but actual implementation of a solid content and keyword research strategy in Spanish and English that generated qualified web traffic.

Hispanic SEO Services

We don’t mean to brag but, we’ve helped small business websites rank on the first page for local search terms. We've helped clean up and increase blog traffic to a tech company’s website by 225%. Of course, to achieve these results we ensured the proper set up and usage of Google Analytics and Search Console, as well as SEMRush and Ahrefs to scope out our clients’ competitors. Here’s a secret: We love doing SEO work in Spanish or Spanglish because there’s less keyword competition, allowing us to deliver quicker results. Shh!

Conversion Rate Optimization, A/B Testing, Chatbot Implementation

Just because you send advertising or SEO traffic to a website doesn’t mean they will necessarily convert or fill out a form. This is where AdvisifyMedia’s CRO expertise comes in. In the past, we implemented chatbots that have increased newsletter sign ups by 15%. We also love using website heat mapping tools to identify drop off points and UX issues with our clients’ websites.

About Us: Surprise, Surprise. We’re Latinx!

Hi! My name’s Karen, and I’ve got the incredible luck of being a first-generation American, with Ecuadorian roots. As a former tech company employee, it was jaw-dropping to discover that organizations invested so many resources on uncovering Latino consumer trends and insights that were simply common sense to me. As a marketer, I like to say I get the best of both worlds, living at the intersection of Hispanic and American culture.

Fun fact about me: I helped launch my first successful digital marketing campaign at the age of 17, helping to market my own high school! Don’t believe me? Check it out.

As I grew in my career as an SEO specialist and content marketer, I started giving talks and sitting on panels like this one.

After helping a handful of clients with Spanish content, SEO and website translation services, I decided to build my own team of Latinos and expand my availability to organizations looking for a young, growing hispanic marketing firm. This isn’t your grandpa’s marketing agency. We’re busy developing social media and SEO strategies for the Hispanic audience of tomorrow.

Common FAQ’s About the World of Hispanic Marketing Agencies

Why is Multicultural Marketing important and why does my company need a Multicultural Marketing Strategy?

America’s face is changing dramatically. Today, 23.4% of the U.S. Millennial population and 25.8% of the Gen Z population, is Hispanic. Multicultural Marketing is important because of the realities of the new marketplace. Even the largest corporations today are seeking growth and penetrating the Latino consumer in the U.S. is a great way to get there.

What are some popular Hispanic Marketing Trends?

1. Hispanic Geographical Trends in the U.S. Where in the U.S. do larger concentrations of Latinos live? The Hispanic population is concentrated in Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Miami, Dallas, Chicago and San Francisco. Their presence in many other markets is growing as well, especially in regions in the Southeast, according to this report. 2. Latinx Gen Z and Millennial Trends in the U.S. According to a Claritas study, 25.8% of Gen Z’s identify as Hispanic. Hispanics are younger on average than other races and ethnic groups. Considering this trend, for marketers to capture the attention of the Hispanic Millennial and Gen Z consumers, one might want to note that although younger Hispanics might speak Spanish in the home, English dominates conversations with peers. Also, for Hispanics across all generations, especially those who are older, generally prefer marketing that reflects their culture. 3. The Latinx/Hispanic Community is not a monolith. There is no greater example of this fact than Latino voting trends during the 2020 Presidential Election. U.S. Hispanics speak several regional variations of Spanish and integrate traditions from their home countries of origin that influence their decisions such as political alignment, buying habits, and religious preferences. So, in order to market successfully to Hispanics, you must take into consideration their country of origin. The top 2 places of origin for U.S Latinos are Mexico and Puerto Rico. According to the data, over 32% of Hispanic Americans are Spanish language dependent or bi-lingual Spanish preferred.

How do I advertise to the Hispanic community online?

The Latino community in the U.S. is incredibly social, family-oriented. This means parties, get-togethers, and even religious gatherings are a focal point of their culture. This trend even translates online on social media. Here are a couple ideas on how to advertise and market to Latinos online: Online advertising ideas for Hispanics 1. Selling e-commerce product via Facebook Live Online selling and merchandising via Facebook Live videos is on the rise, and this is an emerging trend in the Latino U.S. market as well - especially with the subset of Hispanic women. Organizations selling consumer products and accessories like handbags, makeup, jewelry could experiment partnering with Facebook Live influencers to promote their products in front of their audience which is ready to buy. 2. Partnering with Tiktok influencers Today’s Latinx TikTok influencers provide a way to connect with Hispanic audiences that brands are seeking to penetrate. Partnerships such as this marketing campaign between Bounty paper towels and Home Chef Jenny Martinez are just one example of what’s possible in the industry. See her TikTok ad here. What were the best hispanic marketing campaigns of 2020?

One of the most influential hispanic marketing campaigns of 2020 in the U.S. was orchestrated by McDonald’s. From October 5th to November 1st 2020, McDonald’s partnered with Latin music superstar, J Balvin to promote the “J Balvin meal” which customers could order at any McDonald’s. According to SensorTower, McDonald’s chose to promote most heavily to the artist’s Spanish-speaking audience, and both of their most effective creatives on YouTube were almost entirely in Spanish. Both ad segments saw approximately 20 million impressions each. The Results? Both app installs and daily active users (DAU) remained well above the levels seen in August 2020. Average U.S. DAU during the J Balvin promotion were up 23 percent compared to August 2020, nearly matching the 26 percent growth in average DAU seen during the Travis Scott promotion compared to the same month.
